Dear Parishioners,

In June I began my tenth year as your pastor, as I have often said, I could not accomplish all that we do without your generosity and dedication to our parish.

It is my yearly duty to provide you with an Annual Financial Report, I ask that you carefully review the enclosed June 30, 2023 report. I would like to point out that our major sources of income, offertory and grand annual, have been decreasing for a number of years now. Fortunately, the maintenance and utilities collection increased which I am thankful for, and that indicates to me that you are conscious of the escalating costs of these necessities. Surprisingly, another source of income that has increased these past few years has been bingo. This weekly fundraiser has assisted in daily operations. This fundraising event would not be possible without the loyal volunteers who come weekly, I am grateful for their commitment. Our bills for utilities, insurances, improvements, and staff compensation are rapidly increasing.  

As your pastor, it is my responsibility to maintain our three worship sites in a condition where we can gather comfortably and peacefully. In addition to the upkeep of the church buildings, we have the rectory, and the perpetual care of St. Mary Cemetery. In August, I was informed that the twenty-year old air conditioner cooling tower at Sacred Heart Church was no longer working effectively, and after years of repairs it can no longer be repaired. The cost for this upcoming project will be $64,000.

Although we have 3,633 registered households our donor report shows we have 663 families contributing to the offertory. During these challenging economic times it has been difficult to cover our expenses with the income we are receiving. I am aware that expenses are increasing for everyone and many are living on a fixed income. As difficult as this is for me to ask, it is necessary that I humbly request that you prayerfully consider a $500.00 pledge to the 2023 Grand Annual Collection. Last year 469 donors contributed to the Grand Annual, I am hoping that we can increase our donors this year. Pledges may be paid as a single payment, two monthly payments, or over a period of months. I gratefully appreciate any amount that you are able to contribute.

Your ongoing support to Divine Mercy Parish both spiritually and financially is a testament to your Catholic faith, and I thank you.
